About Us
Des Moines-Winterset Memorials was established in 1958 by L.J. White and Monte Johnson as an extension of Winterset Monument Company, which has served Iowa since 1878. Gruhn-Leander Stone Works, L.L.C. purchased Des Moines-Winterset Memorials along with Winterset Monument Company, Atlantic Memorials and Miller Brothers Memorials in Iowa City on May 1, 2008. We are pleased to be a locally-owned family business and look to continue our close relationship with families in all of the numerous communities we are associated with.
As experienced memorialists, we provide you with knowledge, experience and dedication. We understand that creating a personal memorial may be unfamiliar, so we offer the personal service and the capabilities of Rock of Ages, America’s premier monument company.
